On average, couples wait six years from the time they know they need help until the time they make the call for counseling, and then expect therapists to fix them in a few weeks. This often insurmountable challenge can leave therapists and clients feeling as though the whole effort is a failure.
Dr. Luquet invites you to join him for a fresh look at scientifically and clinically proven strategies to jump-start your work with couples. Beginning with an understanding of how couples choose the partners they do, participants will gain immediately usable techniques that help clients calm themselves, listen without being reactive, turn frustrations into positive change, foster empathy, and increase caring behaviors. Techniques to structure initial sessions to increase therapeutic success are included. The seminar content is steeped in the research of John Gottman, Dan Siegel, and the work of Harville Hendrix and the practitioners of Imago Relationship Therapy.
