This seminar is packed with approaches to assess and respond to the risk of long-term and acute violence, as well as strategies to use when faced with active shooters. TIM WEBB, MAEd, LPC, is the founder and CEO of The FOCUS Group, PLLC, a training and consultation agency located in Clemmons, North Carolina. He has over 27 years of experience providing emergency assessment and intervention services in emergency rooms, psychiatric hospitals, mental health centers, jails, detention centers, outpatient settings, and clients' homes. Both as the author of FOCUS on Safety and as the former Intake Director for an inpatient psychiatric treatment facility, Mr. Webb developed state–of–the–art assessment tools, interventions, and safety plans for working with suicidal, violent, and psychotic patients.
Mr. Webb has taught classes on emergency mental health, completing the Mental Status Exam, managing aggression in clinical settings, and assessing and intervening with suicidal patients. A martial arts instructor, he developed the Stay Safe system of protection for human services professionals. Mr. Webb has been a featured speaker for the National Adolescent Perpetrators Network (NAPN, 2014), North Carolina LPC Conference, and has served on the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Task Force on Reducing Behavioral Health ED Wait Times. Formerly the Vice-Chairman of the North Carolina Association for the Management and Treatment of Sex Offenders, he served on the North Carolina Governor's Task Force on Juvenile Sex Offenders. Mr. Webb earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina and his Master of Education (Counseling) degree from Wake Forest University.
