Description

Improving Quality of Life Through Training the Spine

According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, about 54 million Americans have osteoporosis and low bone mass, putting them at increased risk for osteoporosis. Approximately 1 in 2 women and up to 1 in 4 men age 50 and older will break a bone due to osteoporosis. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death and nonfatal injuries in adults age 65 and older. The National Council on Aging reports that every 15 seconds, an older adult is seen in the ER for a fall-related injury. This problem becomes more prevalent as the population of older adults increases. However, with appropriate nutrition, exercise, and guidance from well-trained professionals, adults can live more active and enjoyable lives.

This seminar provides you with hands-on, practical insight into some of the physical changes occurring in the spines of older adults. Gain easy-to-use tools to understand the risk factors for a fall-related incident and identify clients most at risk of falls. Several degenerative conditions will be discussed, along with how to address them through strength training and postural exercises. New approaches and strategies will be demonstrated and practiced with hands-on lab, allowing attendees to immediately adapt them with their clients. Learn how to empower your clients so they can regain their strength, posture, and confidence.
