Description

A Stronger Core for Stronger Outcomes

Improving Function, Balance, & Mobility

Through lecture, demonstration, and lab, you’ll gain the tools to…

  • Assess dysfunctional posture, gait, and functional mobility that occurs with contracture, weakness, and disuse of core
  • Apply client-centered, progressive treatment evolving from single to multi-planar movements
  • Justify skilled core treatment to all payer sources as it pertains to functional outcomes
  • Improve client function in the clinic, community, or home setting using evidence-based approaches
  • Promote independence with sit-stand, functional transfers, and dynamic standing tasks in all anatomical planes

       Objectives

  •  Identify functional movement patterns in all anatomical planes based on patient posture and positioning
  •  Review anatomy used for functional movement in transverse, sagittal, and frontal planes
  •  Analyze the dysfunctional posture, gait, and functional mobility that can occur with contracture, weakness, and disuse of core anatomy
  •  Review core activities based on research and current evidence to promote independence with sit-stand, transfers, functional mobility, ADL's, and transverse plane dynamic standing tasks
  •  Demonstrate dynamic core activity during labs to develop an evolutionary plan of care and to promote functional outcome
