Description
Immigrants face many difficult challenges upon arriving in the United States
During this webinar, participants learn to better understand the unique challenges of immigrant clients and discover how to help them navigate the path toward adjustment and adaptation to a new host culture. We will explore the psychological implications of culture shock and discuss some effective treatment strategies to help move the client beyond culture shock toward health and wellness.

STEPHANIE WEST LACOUNT, LMFT, is an experienced psychotherapist and faculty member of John F. Kennedy University Continuing Education. As a clinical education specialist with OptumHealth, she has developed and presented dozens of seminars across the country in the area of clinical practice. She has been a cross-cultural trainer for Shepell·fgi, a global EAP organization, for more than a decade. Her passion for serving the needs of immigrants developed from her experiences living abroad. In addition to her Psychology degree from U.C. Berkeley and Counseling degree from California State University Hayward, she has completed coursework at the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication (SIIC).
