Description
Differential Diagnosis Provides Clarity to Patients with Psychosis
Differential diagnosis of psychotic symptoms can be difficult, even for the most experienced clinician. However, research and medical science have demonstrated that psychiatric-related psychosis is often different from that presented by substance withdrawal, substance intoxication, delirium, and other organic or medical causes.
This webinar will explore first rank, or positive, psychotic symptoms and their most frequent etiology. Participants will learn to recognize the differences between hallucinations and illusions, evaluate the role of speech and thought processes and diagnosis, and explain the diagnostic implications of various types of delusions. The webinar will conclude with the signs and symptoms of delirium, and when to make medical referrals.
