Effective Wound Management
Often in the hurried world of healthcare, especially wound care, we make quick decisions regarding initial treatment and extended plan of care. Sometimes these decisions are based solely on topical management or dressing changes. Failure to “treat the whole patient and not just the hole in the patient” can lead to delayed healing and poor outcomes.
This course provides a solid foundation in wound care by reviewing assessment and goal-focused interventions, exposing you to the most advanced trends and technological advances in the field. After a quick review of skin anatomy and phases of healing, you will examine wound healing barriers and how adjunctive treatments, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) or negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), can help your patient surpass those hurdles. Sharpen your ability to decipher differential diagnosis by discussing case studies of various wounds of the upper and lower extremity. At the end of this course, attendees gain the skills and confidence to make advanced, evidence-based clinical decisions. This class is a must for veterans and newcomers alike who want to increase their knowledge base, improve their outcomes, and discuss the latest development in wound management.
