Description

Identify and treat children exposed to parental AOD abuse
Parental alcohol and/or drug (AOD) abuse affects children in a variety of ways that can negatively impact the child's development both mentally and emotionally. This webinar is designed to educate participants of the negative effects of parental substance abuse on the thinking, emotions, and behavior of children, and ways to treat these families to minimize long-term traumatic symptoms. Participants will learn how children are exposed to alcohol and drugs, treatment recommendations, and the ongoing monitoring of needs for children of AOD abusing parents. The components of Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, the Strengthening Families Program, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy will be explained with a focus on how these therapies can help the child, the parent, and the family relationship in families working through AOD abuse issues.
