The discussion of overhead athletes often involves baseball, but there are many various sports that involve overhead motions. The mechanics and dysfunctional mechanics of these actions provide the basis for appropriate prehabilitation and rehabilitation. This presentation will include unique injuries to youth athletes, as well as cover sports–specific injury cases or scenarios for various overhead sports, including swimming, baseball, and volleyball.

PAUL STRICKER, MD, FAAP, is an internationally recognized physician, speaker, educator and author with nearly 25 years of experience. Dr. Stricker has authored numerous medical publications and an award-winning book for parents and coaches entitled Sports Success Rx!&mdsh;Your Child's Prescription for the Best Experience. He has been cited in national publications such as US News & World Report, USA Today and parenting magazines, and has been featured on ESPN and other television programs discussing ways to increase activity and decrease sports pressure for children and teenagers. He is still a dedicated athlete and competitive US Masters swimmer. He currently resides and has his medical practice in San Diego, CA, at Scripps Clinic, an internationally recognized multi-specialty medical group and clinical research institution.
