Arthur Allen, Pharm. D., CACP,
ARTHUR ALLEN, Pharm. D., CACP, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider with over ten years of experience. Dr. Allen earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2000 and currently practices as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the primary care setting at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) in Reno, Nevada. Since 2007, Dr. Allen has served as the Clinical Coordinator of the anticoagulation service at VASNHCS. During his tenure as the Clinical Coordinator of the anticoagulation service, Dr. Allen has worked to advance anticoagulation practices at VASNHCS and across Veteran's Integrated Service Network 21 (VISN 21), ensuring compliance with antithrombotic guidelines and Joint Commission standards. He has also worked with regional and national anticoagulation task groups within the VA with his facility serving as a test site for the national Anticoagulation Management Tool (AMT). He continues to serve as one of the national leads for the AMT.
In addition to his responsibilities at the VASNHCS, Dr. Allen serves as affiliate faculty for Idaho State University and Roseman University Colleges of Pharmacy, and is active in the pharmacy residency program at VASNHCS as a founding member of the Pharmacy Residency Board and primary preceptor for rotations and research projects. Dr. Allen is also an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Anticoagulation Forum.
