Marti Smith, OTR/L,


Marti Smith, OTR/L, is a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist from Austin, Texas, with over 10 years of experience in school systems, first steps, pediatric clinics, private autism placement and PRN geriatric rehab. She specializes in handwriting, autism and providing creative, quality care while working in low-income demographic areas. She graduated from Indiana University in 1996 with her bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. Ms Smith strives to help her participants keep treatment sessions innovative, interesting and fun. She has co-written a handwriting manual with Ann Ferguson, OI, MS, titled Handwriting Helpers and produced a DVD on how to make adaptive switch toys, "Switching to Accessibility." Additionally, Ms. Smith has published a how-to book on making inexpensive rehab equipment with PVC called PVC for Rehab Professionals. She has been a national speaker since 2002 and credits countless attendees with many of the ideas referenced in her courses. Ms. Smith's current workshops include "Hints for Horrible Handwriting," "OT and PT on a Shoestring Budget," and "Calming Strategies for Autism."
