Description

The push in rehab is to utilize Functional Assessment Tools to objectively measure performance of activities such as ambulation, ADL’s, balance and muscle function.  These tools, however, are more than periodic measurements of function, they are the key to intervention development! Various tools such as the Trunk Impairment Scale, BERG, and FTSTT will be reviewed to show how the results of a test give evidence to the patient’s impairments.  This course will be geared toward maximizing therapists’ “toolbox” of interventions to directly impact performance on outcome measure tools to show the direct benefit of therapy services.

Objectives

  • Discuss the role of impairment identification in functional assessment as indicated in the ICF Model

  • Determine probable limiting impairments from results of the BERG and FTSTS tests

  • Develop 3 treatments for each identified impairment which will directly aid in improving your patient’s functional performance
